De Kwakel, August 2024 – HBA has registered 6 different paniculatas (Pandalus, Pandria, Panflora, Pansana, Pantera and Pantheon) for the Quality Garden Hydrangea Benchmark 2024. The paniculatas are submitted by HBA partner Kötterheinrich. The benchmark is being conducted by the Post Harvest Knowledge Center of Royal FloraHolland (RFH).
From week 28 onwards, plants were tested for 5 weeks. After a dark transport phase of 3 days at 15°C follows a retail phase of 4 days. The benchmark ends with a consumer phase of 35 days at a Royal FloraHolland outdoor location in Naaldwijk. The results of the benchmark will be shared during the Trade Fair in Aalsmeer in the first week of November.
HBA offers an extensive range of hydrangeas suitable for pot and garden. Since 2015, the company has also focused on breeding paniculatas. Paniculata Panflora won the benchmark Quality Garden Hydrangea 2022. In that year Panflora achieved the highest scores for shelf life and ornamental value and met the consumer expectations best.
